good fact from geology - the northern hemisphere is more dusty than the southern hemisphere. This partly natural, because the northern hemisphere has a greater land mass. It is also because of the pollution caused by the many large cities in the northern hemisphere.

zoo story

the zoo story is about a giraffe originally from a zoo in the West Bank, shown by Peter Friedl at Documenta 12. The giraffe died from banging his head in distress during an Israeli bombing raid. Apparently the reason he looks so odd and wonky is that the taxidermy was carried out by someone who didn't really know what he was doing.

on Sunday we drove out to Bethells Beach/Te Henga on the west coast. I swam in the lake! (Lake Wainamu). It was icy.
